Firstly, a Tale of Two Weddings
We have a secret to tell you - we plan to get married at a registry office in Scotland, on the 17th of May, before our “proper” wedding in Poland in July.
The reason is to save ourselves from the endless red tape that comes with marrying in another country. Frankly, it was taking much of the joy out of the proceedings. So, after much thought, we decided to take a less complicated path and legally marry in Scotland before the main event in Poland. It’ll be a small, low-key ceremony in Edinburgh, with only immediate family present. We’re telling you this so you know in advance and to hopefully avert any concerns or misgivings. We will still consider the 29th of July in Poland to be our actual Wedding Day, when we will exchange our marriage vows in Anna’s Church in front of our dearest family and friends. We hope you will join us for that and the celebrations that follow.

Please note: there are two weddings in the hotel on Saturday 29th. Our reception is in the function room called “Sala Platynowa”, which is accessed through the left-hand entrance, as you face the hotel. (Although if you do accidentally go to the other wedding, don’t come back empty-handed!)
Sunday 30th July 2023 - “Day 2”

* It’s approximately a 25-minute drive from Biała Podlaska to Piszczac. If you have a car with you, we’d ask you to make your own way to the church and even consider offering a lift to others, if you have space. We aim to provide a coach for those without transport, but there will be limited spaces and may involve multiple trips.
TRAVEL TO POLAND
The nearest airports to our reception venue in Biała Podlaska are:
Warsaw Chopin airport (169km - approx 2 hours drive)
Warsaw Modlin airport (204km - approx 2 hours 45 mins drive)
Please be sure to allow for these travel times when planning your trip. If you rent a car, it’s a relatively straightforward journey from either airport, but watch out for some “creative” overtaking on the long straight sections!
You can also get a train from Warsaw to Biała Podlaska. Direct trains (intercity or “IC”) take about two hours from Warsaw East station (Warsaw Wschodnia) to Biała Podlaska. PKP is the main intercity train operator in Poland. You can book tickets here: https://pkp.pl/en
(Please note: search for WARSZAWA WSCHODNIA rather than WARSAW when selecting your outbound station. Also, in case it comes up - from Polish to English, Biała Podlaska translates as “White Podlaska”.)
ACCOMMODATION
We have two hotels with rooms pre-arranged for our guests. We intend to take charge of the bookings and will book you into one of the hotels based on your needs - just let us know in the R.S.V.P.
Hotel Polonia, on the outskirts of Biała Podlaska, is where the reception will be held, but we have only a limited number of rooms available for our guests here. We’ll book you into this one if you have particular needs, such as putting children to bed while the wedding celebrations are in full swing. Otherwise, Hotel Skala, near the centre of Biała Podlaska, is about 10 minutes away by road and is equally comfortable. We intend to provide a shuttle bus to take you to and from the wedding reception and Hotel Skala if you’re staying there. If you wish to stay at either of these hotels, please let us know in the R.S.V.P. rather than booking directly. We intend to pay for the rooms for our guests in both hotels for the night of Saturday 29th, but we ask that you cover the costs of incidentals and for accommodation on any other nights.
